About Us

Koinonia Christian Academy currently is a registered K-10 co-educational independent Christian school situated on the outskirts of Bourke (Outback NSW), on the banks of the Darling River. We place a strong emphasis on Christian growth and character along with academic excellence to prepare children for life.

Our program combines the use of Accelerated Christian Education resources along with interactive group learning activities. We use the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) resources, which ensure that Biblical values are the basis of all students’ learning.  It is also a personalized program, which allows students to be placed at their own particular level of achievement, and advance at their own rate of learning.  This allows for one-on-one attention from staff in the classroom, and provides the assurance that students are achieving good learning outcomes.  Group learning is equally important as it helps a child’s development in the areas of collaboration, communication, teamwork and socialization skills.

The Academy does not prepare students for the RoSA (NSW Dept of Education Record of School Achievement) or the HSC (High School Certificate). We do provide ACE certificates for graduates, from Southern Cross Educational Enterprises, at Year 10. Students have the opportunity to sit the SAT (formerly called the Scholastic Aptitude Test). The SAT is a standardized test widely used for university admission.

At Koinonia Christian Academy, we strive to provide a safe supportive environment where our students can learn and grow both intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.  We use Biblical character traits to help students mirror their lives with Biblical teaching, with the aim of them also building a strong character for future life.

We have close ties to the Full Gospel Family Fellowship Church, but cater for families from all denominations.  The school is open to families of all Christian denominations, without ethnic bias, who have a faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and who express that faith by regular involvement in their local church.

The Academy operates on a four-term year and general school hours are 8:00am to 1:30pm.  There is a local bus run that provides a transport service to and from the school for eligible children.
